Reta

Meet Reta: our Talent Sponsorship program’s third candidate!

We are very proud to announce that we can help our third candidate through the EFFA Talent Sponsorship program. After Surya (Seeds of Hope), who finished his Food & Beverage degree and Boy (Im Jai House) whom we helped selling his handmade bags, wallets and dresses, we chose our third talented candidate to support on top of the general English lessons that are set up at the various Children’s Homes.

Reta from Seeds of Hope Children’s Home on Bali is a very positive, ambitious and clever girl. She already made a big impression on Remco and Daniel when they were setting up the first project of EFFA at the Children’s Home. She finished her high school education with exceptional grades and besides that she was always happy to help her brothers and sisters at SoH with their homework or any other tasks. We truly believe that with the right support Reta can achieve great things in her life. She always told us that she wishes to continue studying after high school but without a sponsor this would never be possible. We are therefore very grateful that we can support Reta in making this next big step in her life by sponsoring her entire English Bachelor degree. Besides that we have donated a motorbike so that she has the possibility to travel back and forth from home to school.

When she heard the news this was her reaction:

‘I just heard that the EFFA Foundation will be my sponsor for my university, I’m very happy and I will study very hard to make you proud. I want to study English because I think it will give me many chances for my future and will help me to do my dream job.  First I would like to become a tour guide so that I can show many people my beautiful Bali. I hope that I can also earn money to help my family and other children like me. Thank you very much EFFA. I feel so lucky!’

We were also very happy to hear her say that the educational program that we set up at SoH is much appreciated and really paying off:

The EFFA Foundation helps Seeds of Hope. EFFA made a classroom for us and we get lessons in English and computer skills. The lessons help me and many of the children to learn better English. We are all so happy and thankful for the EFFA Foundation and all the help they give our Children’s Home. We love EFFA.’

We want to wish Reta all the luck in the world and we are sure she will do very well in University. We will keep you updated about the progress that Reta will maken over the coming years.
